Legacy and Vision

Established in 1993 with generous endowment from distinguished IIT alumnus Mr. Vinod Gupta, the Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM) at IIT Kharagpur was the first management school within an IIT ecosystem dedicated to integrating technology with business leadership. VGSoM was envisioned as a bridge between technological innovation and decision-making acumen, focusing on preparing ethically strong and technologically empowered managers.

Being part of IIT Kharagpur, VGSoM inherits a multi-disciplinary DNA, fostering collaboration among engineering, economics, law, and entrepreneurship disciplines. • MBA (Master of Business Administration):
  A two-year full-time residential program spread across four semesters. It blends interdisciplinary coursework in management, finance, analytics, operations, and leadership. A mandatory two-month summer internship at reputed organizations ensures real-world exposure.

• Executive MBA (EMBA):
  Offered jointly by IIT Kharagpur and Coursera, this two-year online program allows working professionals to enhance business, analytics, and leadership skills. The course structure includes live sessions, capstone projects, and mentorship support.

• PhD in Management:
  Designed for research-oriented scholars, enabling specialization in management disciplines and contributing research to society, industries, and policy-making.

• AI and Data Analytics Certification Programs:
  Executive-level certification courses in Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics, and Data Science through IIT Kharagpur’s continuing education arm.

Step 1 – Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, pharmacy, architecture, or a 4-year B.Sc. (or equivalent) with minimum 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/10 (55% or 6.0 for SC/ST/PwD categories).

• Candidates with master’s degrees in science, commerce, or economics (with mathematics or statistics at graduate level) are also eligible.

Step 2 – Entrance Exam

• Valid CAT 2025 score mandatory for Indian candidates.

• GMAT accepted for foreign/NRI applicants.

Step 3 – Application Form

• Complete online registration at the official VGSoM portal.

• Upload academic credentials, test scores, resume, and Statement of Purpose (SOP).

Step 4 – Shortlisting Criteria

• Shortlisting based on CAT/GMAT score, past academic record, work experience, and diversity consideration.

Step 5 – Personal Interview

• Shortlisted candidates are invited to online PI rounds in multiple phases (March 2026).

• Candidate evaluation parameters include academic excellence, communication, analytical thinking, industry awareness, and leadership attitude.

Step 6 – Final Merit List

• Composite score comprises:

  • CAT score – 40%

  • Personal Interview – 30%

  • Academic Record – 20%

  • Work Experience & Diversity – 10%

Step 7 – Admission & Enrollment

• Offers sent to selected candidates.

• Candidates pay confirmation fees and register for the upcoming academic term starting July 2026.
